Terms of Service

SearchLayerPDF analyzes PDF documents page by page and produces an upgraded PDF with an improved searchable text layer using multi-engine OCR and AI synthesis. Output quality is estimated, not guaranteed; results depend on input quality.

You may create an account by signing in with Google. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials and API keys secret. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. You must be at least 16 years old and able to form a binding contract.

You agree not to:

• upload content you do not have the legal right to process, or that infringes others’ rights;
• upload unlawful, harmful, or malicious content;
• attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service;
• exceed published rate limits or use the Service to build a competing OCR product through bulk scraping of outputs.

You retain all ownership of documents you submit (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited license to store and process Your Content solely to provide the Service to you. You represent that you have the rights necessary to submit Your Content for processing.

Paid usage is billed per page processed, as described on our pricing page. Pages we do not meaningfully improve, and blank pages, are not charged. Fees are exclusive of taxes. Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable.

API access is subject to rate limits and the scopes granted to your API keys. We may throttle or suspend access to protect the Service’s stability and other users.

The Service, including its software, models, pipeline, and branding, is owned by SearchLayerPDF and protected by law. These Terms grant you no rights to our intellectual property other than the right to use the Service as permitted.

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle your data, including automatic deletion of documents and our commitment not to train models on your content.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that OCR or text-layer output will be error-free.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SearchLayerPDF will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or profits. Our total liability for any claim arising out of the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the three months preceding the claim.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SearchLayerPDF from claims arising out of Your Content or your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.

You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms or to protect the Service. Upon termination, your stored documents are deleted in accordance with our retention practices.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, by additional notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
